Cure for a cold rainy day

Wanna know the best cure for a cold rainy day? Well, besides getting to sleep in and having breakfast in bed brought to you by a studly hubby who insists you should stay in said bed all day because you really should enjoy yourself and take a day off... Oh - hi. You're still here. Oops. Got a bit distracted thinking about what I really wanted to do this morning when I woke up in the dark listening to the rain pattering on the roof.

Anyway - the best cure for a cold rainy day is lunch at Hickory Park in Ames with the Friday Girls, catching up on all the news, gandering at all the antiques lining the entry, and dining on the most wonderful comfort food know to man since God provided manna in the desert: smoked meats, creamy mashed potatos swimming in dark beef gravy with the best BBQ baked beans this side of heaven - or whatever sides float your boat. I'm not picky. They're all good at Hickory Park. Haven't had a bad meal there yet. And if you can manage to still find room for dessert, it's well worth it. [disclaimer: I'm in no way affiliated with Hickory Park other than being an enthusiastic patron whenever the opportunity arises.]

Yep and yessiree - that's a darn good cure for a nasty cold rainy day. At least until you have to go back outside in the rain again.

Until the next rainy day when we get to lounge in bed - thank God for Hickory Park and the Friday Lunch Girls :)
