A pie birdie chorus

Remember this little guy? My first little pie bird? Well, he was lonely. Very lonely.

Jamie took pity on him and found a couple friends to join the pie medley.

Still, something was missing and Pie Birdie wanted a soul mate.

Fast forward to this weekend. Deep underground in the middle of St. Louis, standing in the Mercantile gift shop under the Arch, this flock of pie birdies shouted for attention from a shelf near the checkout line.

They were practically jumping off the shelf, begging to find a new home. I couldn't say no. And Jamie took pity on the situation and said I could pick one. It was a tough choice. They were all so cute!

This evening when we got home, I carefully unwrapped this little pie birdie and introduced her to her new home. She positively beamed.

And I'm happy to say, our pie birdie couple couldn't be happier. And they're gonna live happily ever after. The end.

Not alone any more

Remember this little guy? The little pie bird who came home with me from a little shopping trip last month?

Well, the good news is he's not alone any more. Thanks to my awesome husband, he's found a friend.

Just last month I was bowled over by pie birds, which I thought were limited to crow-shaped birdies. Then Jamie worked his eBay magic and we now have a pie turkey. So. Cool.

And because I was extra good this year (well, probably not because of that...more like Jamie was extra awesome. He's become really good at knowing the perfect gifts to give), these two have another new friend. Meet Mr. Pie Pig:

Together this trio makes quite a nice group of pie friends.

And they're loving it at our house. They haven't even gotten their feet dirty yet. We're gonna have to fix that soon. A cherry pie sounds mighty good. I think Jamie might agree.
